Implementation of security updates, patches and enhancement packages
The application or application layer
Presentation layer: The presentation layer is the top layer of the R/3 SAP Basis system and includes communication with the user. Here, the data is graphically prepared for the user on the terminal device by means of software components from the application programs of the application layer. The presentation layer represents the interface to the user (SAP GUI).

INTRODUCTION A growing number of SAP-based departments are facing major changes and challenges within the SAP product portfolio as well as in their own task environment. These result from influences of digitalisation, digital transformation, new technologies such as cloud computing or big data, but also developments such as customer experience or the Internet of Things. In order to overcome the challenges and to transform the existing SAP basis, recommendations for action are grouped in seven thematic areas. These topics cover the areas of skills and roles (cloud and supplier management, strengthening of the technology architect, focus on project work), marketing and self-understanding (creation of a service catalogue, regular exchange with the CIO, renaming of the SAP basis), new technologies and innovation (test and innovation lab, proactive & regular training), organisation in change (development of the two subject areas close to structure and application-orientated , virtual teams of experts), standardisation and automation (automation of routine tasks, outtasking of rare tasks), "cloudability", outsourcing & outtasking (assessment of usefulness for the cloud, use of appropriate service forms) and IT roadmap (influence of own IT roadmap). By reflecting on the thematic areas, methods and possibilities for implementing the recommendations are presented.
Defined service level agreements (SLAs)
SAP recommends a role design for Fiori permissions based on the defined catalogues and groups in the launchpad. In such a catalogue there is usually a set of apps and services which is relevant for a specific user group. If a role for one or more catalogues in the launchpad has been authorised, the corresponding catalogues and groups will be displayed in the app finder only for eligible users when the launchpad is launched. This ensures that every user only sees what they are working with. Important: These Fiori permissions are maintained on the frontend server! Maintain catalogue permissions in the PFCG To add a Fiori permission to open a catalogue for a role, reopen this role in the PFCG in Change mode and follow the next steps: 1) Select Menu tab 2) Click on the small arrow to add an item 3) Select "SAP Fiori Tile Catalogue" Then select the corresponding Catalogue ID for which the selected role should be eligible. Now the role only has to be assigned to the corresponding users in the system. Once you have completed these steps, you will have the Fiori permissions you need to view individual tile catalogues on the launchpad.

SAP Basis or system administrators work with SAP Basis in a company. They are responsible for the correct installation, configuration and maintenance of the SAP application servers and applications, and in some companies also for the operating system and the SAP database if no administrators are available. Using SAP's own programming language ABAP, developers and programmers design SAP applications that run on the ABAP stack of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server as the only publicly accessible ABAP runtime environment. In some cases, the boundaries between ABAP developers and SAP Basis administrators are permeable, and each of the two groups of specialists has a basic knowledge of the other. As a rule, however, the competencies remain separate.

Use "Shortcut for SAP Systems" to accomplish many tasks in the SAP basis more easily and quickly.

An employee with significant professional experience can look forward to around 90,000 euros.

With the Security Audit Log (SAL) you have the possibility to log all changes, e.g. for users, user master records, but also roles and groups.
