SAP performance optimization
The application layer is the central component of the SAP R/3 system. This layer is therefore also referred to by SAP as the actual basis system. Within the layer there are application servers and a message server.
The decision to outsource a task or service should be taken not only in terms of cost, but also by assessing the competitive differentiation and strategic importance. Characteristics for describing the costs are the specificity of the task and the embossing by unit cost degression, i.e. decreasing costs with increasing number of tasks or performance. Of strategic importance are, in particular, those tasks and services which are difficult to imitate by competing companies. Figure 4 compares the strategic importance and cost advantages in order to arrive at fundamentally valid statements regarding the usefulness of outsourcing for certain IT tasks and services. In addition to this, as already discussed by Recommendation [A2], it is then worthwhile to establish a catalogue of criteria for evaluating and looking in detail at certain characteristics of the application or services. An exemplary catalogue of criteria can be found in chapter 9.6 of the Master thesis. The role of the SME describes an expert in a particular field, such as SME databases or SME-SAP-HANA, in the context of SAP products and is gaining in importance due to new technologies and thematic areas. The role of the SME thus corresponds to an expert role in the technology environment. It has a good network within the IT departments and, if necessary, to other business units within the company. In order to carry out its activities, it is necessary to have already acquired practical experience in the operation of its thematic focus. Expert tools are also used to fulfil his task. Through the exact definition of disciplines, the SME assumes the informally many tasks of the traditional SAP basis administrator and also new disciplines in the course of new technologies. In addition to the existing features, there will be in the future such as SME-Cloud, SME-SAP-HANA/Databases, SME-Supplier-Management, SME-Security, SME-Compliance, SME-Landscape-Virtualisation-Management (SME-Landscape-Virtualisation-Management) and SMESolution-Manager. SME-Cloud is in contact with the global cloud manager (if it exists in the company). In addition, an expression SME-Security is in contact or reported to the global corporate security sector. An expression SME-Supplier-Relationship-Management or Supplier-Management is orientated both internally (coordination with other departments) and externally (coordination and communication with suppliers). The SME cloud is a special feature of SME Supplier Management.
The prerequisite for employment is a relevant university degree (bachelor's degree, FH diploma) preferably in computer science, business informatics, mathematics or a scientific discipline as well as at least three years of practical experience. Ideally, you also have a completed scientific university education (master's degree, university diploma).
