In order to reduce the complexity of the SAP basis operation and to accelerate and simplify the tasks of the SAPBasis and to create free capacities, standardisation and automation of the existing activities is required. Details can be found in chapters 7.7 and 9.5 of the Master's thesis.
In every company with an SAP system, there is someone who is responsible for the SAP Basis. This person ensures the trouble-free operation of the SAP system. He or she accompanies maintenance work and intervenes in special situations, such as poor performance. Even for companies that hand over the operation of the basis to an external service provider, there are often still tasks from the user and authorization management environment at this point.
Manage the underlying operating system, if applicable
ITIL stands for The IT Infrastructure Library. ITIL is a summary of "best practices" rules for professional implementation of IT service management. ITIL has established itself as an international standard in the area of IT business processes. The ITIL set of rules describes the processes, the organizational structure and the tools required for IT infrastructure. ITIL is based on the economic added value that IT operations provide for the company. itSMF Deutschland eV has further developed and improved these standards, and at the same time operates a portal for exchanging knowledge and experience.
In addition, the SAP Basis team can easily implement new functionality in the new system - without compromising the security, stability or quality of the previous function, which would be the case with non-certified and inexperienced people. Smooth implementation is enabled by project experience, training and certificates.
Some missing SAP basic functions in the standard are supplied by the PC application "Shortcut for SAP Systems".
