A complicated role construct
Ensuring secure administration
Access to this data is critical, since the hash values can possibly be decrypted using tools, thus enabling unauthorized logon to the SAP system. Since identical passwords are often used for different systems, the determined password may also be usable for downstream systems. The current or former hash values of the passwords are stored in the tables USR02, USH02, USRPWDHISTORY, USH02_ARC_TMP, VUSER001 and VUSR02_PWD. These tables can be accessed either via classic table access transactions such as SE16 or via database administration transactions such as DBACOCKPIT. The authorizations required for table access via database tools depend on the respective system configuration and should be verified via an authorization trace (transaction STAUTHTRACE), if necessary.

A major advantage of SAP SuccessFactors is flexibility. Different project teams can implement and use several modules, processes or add-ons in a short time. The processes can be optimized again and again. A central basis for extensively digitized processes are structured specifications that regulate system access and control access rights. In this context, SAP offers the concept of role-based authorizations. Role-based SAP authorizations grant different groups of people different options for action and views in the system, e.g., regulate access to salary data. Role-based authorizations are flexible and facilitate global implementations of SAP SuccessFactors, e.g. in different national companies. Once implemented, roles and their authorizations can be quickly rolled out to the new region. The roles do not have to be completely reconfigured each time. Slight adjustments are all that is required.
Making the RESPAREA responsibility the organisational level
Careful maintenance of suggestion values in the relevant authorization objects results in recurring benefits in creating and revising roles for Web applications. In addition, the SU25 transaction supports role post-processing in the context of SAPUpgrades.

Manual authorization profile - To minimize the editing effort when using manual authorization profiles, you usually do not enter individual authorizations in the user master record, but authorizations combined into authorization profiles. Changes to access rights take effect for all users whose user master record contains the profile the next time they log on to the system. Users who have already logged on are therefore not initially affected by changes.

"Shortcut for SAP systems" is a tool that enables the assignment of authorizations even if the IdM system fails.

The SE38 and SA38 transactions should not be allocated in the productive system and custom programmes should be included in own transaction codes.

The website www.sap-corner.de offers a lot of useful information about SAP authorizations.

The selection is made in the start image of the report, e.g. via the table name or the selection of options for logging.
